HOPE IN NBA LABOR NEGOTIATIONS
Thu October 27, 2011 2:26 pm
The two sides reconvened yesterday at the Waldorf Astoria to
reignite labor talks, and a sense of heavy optimism emanated from
NBA officials familiar with the
proceedings.
But the
NBA and players association hadn???t
reached a deal as of late last night after 14-plus hours of talks.
But they were taking ???small steps,?? one person familiar with the
meetings told The Post.
Talks restarted for the first time since last Thursday night???s
bitter breakup of the federal mediation governed by George Cohen.
All that acrimony seemed to be put aside at least for the afternoon
that went deep into the night. The meeting started at noon and they
were behind closed doors at 2 a.m. and still making progress, said
one league source.

Jackson's staff gets to work together;WARRIORS
Thu October 27, 2011 2:24 am

Warriors had the first practices of
Mark Jackson's head-coaching tenure this week.

facility since July 1, is still raging, but Jackson's staff has
been in Oakland all week preparing for the season. Jackson and his
lieutenants have met in smaller groups and in various locations,
but this marked the first time all seven coaches and the two-man
video staff were in one place at the same time.

Golden State Warriors: New coaching starting to prepare for when lockout ends
Thu October 27, 2011 2:24 am
Mark Jackson came to the Bay Area this week to meet with his
coaching staff, and he came toting his completely new playbook.
"Got my DNA all over it," Jackson said.
Now, his task is making the playbook part of his staff's DNA and
refining the new modus operandi of the Warriors' staff. To that
end, Jackson and his crew spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the team's
downtown Oakland facility -- the first time the entire staff had
been together -- getting everyone up to speed and on the same
page.
Perhaps that is a silver lining of the NBA lockout. The Warriors
coaching staff, which was completely overhauled, now has time to
get things together.
